about

To be alive is to be joyful and sorrowful, to gain and to lose, to thrive and to struggle, to carry and to be carried. As we go through life, these experiences come and go like waves tossing us about. At the mercy of life's raging seas, the only power we have is our ability to love and show compassion to one another. This truth inspired the creation of this music, and it is my hope that all who hear it are inspired to love more deeply, listen more closely, and cherish everyone they meet exactly as they are. - Denin Slage-Koch, April 2023

Without exception, my favorite kind of music is the kind that forces me, the listener, to lean in, to follow the musical story, to fully experience the highs and lows, the louds and softs, the dissonance and consonance, the tension and release, as the drama unfolds from start to finish. And, it is my experience that, more often than not, the artists who create this type of music share the same deep, visceral connection to music. Having known Denin for many years now and having witnessed his development as a guitarist, composer, educator, and, most importantly, as an artist, it was a pleasure to be a part of this recording and help bring his music to life. I can say without a doubt that Denin has tapped into the visceral power of music exemplified in his masterful compositions and guitar playing and I am excited for you, the listener, to fully experience his beautiful music. - Ryan Keberle, May 2023
